Advent Procession
Please join us on Sunday 3rd December at 6pm for this service of music for Advent. The St George's choir will be performing music from Palestrina, Praetorius, Warlock, Gardiner, and Archer.
Christmas Market
Our Christmas Market will take place on Saturday 2nd December, 12-3pm in the church hall. There will be the usual array of stalls and festive refreshments. Entry is free and all are welcome so please do spread the word and come along!
Remembrance Sunday
Remembrance Sunday, 12th November, will be marked with an act of remembrance during the 9.30am eucharist.
All Saints & All Souls
All Souls will be marked with a Sung Eucharist, featuring music from Fauré's Reqiuem, on Thursday 2nd November at 7.30pm. It will be livestreamed via our Livestreaming page. All Saints Day will be celebrated at the Parish Eucharist on Sunday 5th November at 9.30am.
Dedication Festival Evensong
On our 135th Anniversary, we are delighted to welcome the Right Revd. Helen-Ann Hartley, Bishop of Newcastle, as our preacher at Choral Evensong. The service will be held at the usual time of 6.00pm on Sunday 15th October, and will be followed by a glass of wine.
Harvest Festival 2023
We are celebrating Harvest Festival at the 9.30am Eucharist on Sunday 24th September. Clare MacLaren, who has recently joined us as Interim Priest, will be preaching. We are holding a collection of items for The People's Kitchen, who do great work supporting homeless...
Heritage Open Days
St George's is participating in Newcastle's Heritage Week and so this lovely Grade 1 listed church will be open on Friday 7 September and Saturday 8 September, 10.30-5pm, with guided tours at 2pm each day. Refreshments available.
Songs of Praise
We are pleased to welcome Songs of Praise to St George's to do some recording for the show. This will take place on Monday 21st August, 6.30-9.30pm. It is free to attend but please book your place by contacting singwithus@ctvc.co.uk or 07734030888.

Farewell to Brian
The end of April brought the news that our vicar, Brian Hurst, will be moving on to a new post (though in pastures old) in the Northumberland hills. His final Sunday at St George's & St Hilda's will be Sunday 18th June; he will preside and preach at the 8.00am...
