The Rt Revd Dr Helen-Ann Hartley, Bishop of Newcastle, is delighted to announce the following appointment for the Deanery of Newcastle Central in the Archdeaconry of Northumberland.

The Revd Deborah Jayne Loughran – currently Vicar of the Benefice of Oakengates, Priorslee and Wrockwardine Wood and also Rural Dean of Telford in the Diocese of Lichfield – has been appointed as Vicar of the Benefice of St George’s and St Hilda’s Newcastle.

Debbie writes, “I am excited to be called to be a part of the communities of St George’s and St Hilda’s and to get to know the people of West Jesmond.  Newcastle has held a special place in my heart since I first came here 12 years ago and I look forward to seeing what God has planned for each and every one of us.  Alan, Amy, Matty and I look forward to meeting you.”

We are delighted by this annoucement and greatly look forward to welcoming Debbie and her family, and working with her in the coming years. Please keep Debbie and her family, and the people of St George and St Hilda in your prayers as we prepare to begin this new chapter together.

Her installation will take place on Monday 7th October at 7.30pm in St George’s Church.
