Activities

Here are some of the the events that the Sunday Knights get involved in throughout the year:

St George's Pantomime - February

The St. George's Pantomime is a theatrical extravaganza which takes place at the beginning of the Spring Term each year. Drawing on the acting skills of the entire congregation, the Sunday Knights always take a big part in the spectacle, with many of the young people in lead roles.  All are welcome to take part, and we look forward to another great show in February 2010!

Walk of Witness - Easter

Good Friday 2009 saw many of the Sunday Knights take the streets of Jesmond in an outdoor dramatic portrayal of the crucfixion of Christ. Joining forces with young people from other local churches, the young people led a poignant and thoughtful reflection, and we hope to do something similar in Easter 2010.

Residential Weekend - June

Each year, the Sunday Knights aim to go on a residential weekend, to have fun in new surroundings, do different things and (most importantly) give their parents a well-earned rest!

This year, we went to Ridley Hall, Northumberland, for a high-energy weekend of torchlit walks, capture the flag, drama workshops, art activites, films and much, much more.

Fun was had by all (even the leaders!) and we very much look forward to a similar excursion next year, though hopefully the weather will be a little kinder.

St George's vs All Saints Rounders Match - July

Celtic and Rangers, France and England, Newcastle United and Sunderland - all great sporting rivalries in their own right, though all pale in comparison to the high level of competition felt between these two local churches in the noble sport of rounders. No love is lost when these two teams take to the pitch, and with St. George's having won the last match comfortably, the 2010 match is eagerly anticipated by many.

Following a large project, spear-headed by the youth of St George's and part-funded by the Church Institute Trust, in September 2009, St George's will launch a dedicated youth room available to all those young people in Year 10 and above.
