The War Memorials

World War 1 memorial plaqueWorld War 2 memorial plaque

We have tried to match up the names on the memorial plaques with the information given on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website. In some cases this has not been possible - either the person cannot be found, or there are several likely alternatives.

For the World War 2 plaque we do not have any military service details which has made it more difficult to narrow down the search in some cases. Any assistance in identifying the remaining names would be gratefully received.

Please contact the Parish Office (details on the St Georges home page) if you can help

Clicking on a highlighted name below will open up a new window on the CWGC site displaying the details held, including the cemetery or memorial. Further links on that page will display:

Names are listed in the same format and order in which they appear on the memorials. Assuming the CWGC list is definitive, there appear to be some errors over the precise names or the exact rank/regiment/branch in some cases. The alphabetical order has also gone awry in some sections of both plaques.
