Learning

St. George's aims to encourage Christian learning and deepening of Faith through a range of group learning and exploration opportunities supported by private study, thought and prayer;

Bitesize Bible
An opportunity to look deeper into the Bible in manageable bitesize pieces, which are easy to digest, using a variety of formats: traditional Bible study with also interpretations using art and film.
The group course was started in response to the people who wanted to get to know the Bible, and has been running for three years.
There are usually two separate bitesize courses a year which last for six weeks at a time; the next course which will centre on Moses, will be taking place in October and November.

Faith and Life
Faith and Life course 08/09 This is a deanery wide learning group, which brings together people from a variety of churches and traditions to share their experiences of God and encourages participants to grow in their faith and life journey together.

The course begins by looking at aspects of St Mark's Gospel in relation to discipleship, then goes on to explore the psalms as a path to wisdom. The third unit is about Paul's letter to the Ephesians which looks at how members of the church contribute their gifts for the upbuilding of the whole community, then explores the Acts of the Apostles and how Christians share their faith with others.  Finally, there is a whistle stop tour of the Old Testament, exploring how Christianity fits into the pattern of God's revelation begun in the Old Testament.  The course ends with a service of celebration and dedication

If you are interested in joining the course this Autumn, it will be held in St Mary's, Fawdon.
