Prayer and Learning
Prayer is fundamental to the religious life. It is the source of our growth into a relationship with God: it is through prayer that we discover who God means us to be, and how we can become more like God. It is through prayer that we can become both whole and holy.
While we often need to talk our way through prayer, it is also important to listen, or, without words, just to be aware of ourselves in God's presence. God knows our hearts.
As Elijah discovered, God is to be found in the silence.
As we grow in our relationship with God, so we grow in discipleship, learning about our faith from the Bible and from others, as well as by reflecting on our own experience. At St George's we offer a number of opportunities to do this.
Meet & Pray
There are a number of individuals who meet regularly to pray together, to explore new ways of praying, and to listen to God.
From September 14th we will meet on Mondays at 11.00 - 12.00 in the Lady Chapel, and on Thursdays 7.00 - 8.00 at Doreen Woodhouse's home. Anybody can drop in whenever you wish to pray with others without making any commitment to be part of a 'group'.
If you would like to have further details please contact Allison Fenton (0191 281 5639).
