All churches rely on the generosity of their members to provide the bulk of their income and St Georges is no exception. The Planned Giving Committee aims ensure that the planned giving of the parish runs smoothly and meets our day to day running expenses.
Their current project is to invite all members of the congregation to join the planned giving scheme. Members of the congregation who are taxpayers can, if they wish, allow the church to reclaim the tax they have paid on their donation. For each pound you donate the church can recover an extra 25p. This 'Gift Aid' reclaim is a very important additional contribution - we will typically recover about £17,000 a year from the taxman.
All donations are made in absolute confidence - only the Planned Giving Recorder knows the amounts given by individuals. This information is not passed to the planned giving committee whose job is to provide oversight and encourage people to consider financial giving as part of their Christian stewardship.
